Where this content comes from
Wi, Nou Ka Palé Kwéyòl is an independent project built to help people learn and practice Saint Lucian Kwéyòl (Saint Lucian Creole French) through games and lessons.
Every game and lesson on this site draws its Kwéyòl vocabulary and example sentences from the Saint Lucian Kwéyòl Dictionary (Crosbie, Frank, Leon & Samuel, Ministry of Education, Government of Saint Lucia, © 2001 SIL International). It is the standard reference for the language.
We use it as a source of facts: which word means what, and the real sentences the dictionary itself records as examples. We don't republish it wholesale. The lesson pages under /learn/ are our own original writing. The explanations, structure and teaching context are written for this site, built around words and sentences confirmed in the dictionary rather than copying its definitions or the way it arranges them.
If the dictionary has no example sentence for a word we teach, we say so instead of making one up. If a lesson would need new sentences beyond what the dictionary confirms, we wait to publish it until a native or fluent Kwéyòl speaker has reviewed it.
Who runs this site
Wi, Nou Ka Palé Kwéyòl is run by an individual in Saint Lucia who wants more people, at home and abroad, to hear, read and play in Kwéyòl. The games are free and kept running by advertising.
