Saint Lucia Celebrates Calypso at Lucian Kaiso Conversations 2026

Castries, Saint Lucia, 20 February 2026:

The Msgr. Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC), in partnership with the Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC), successfully hosted Lucian Kaiso Conversations 2026 on Thursday evening at Entertainment Sound Productions (ESP), Bisee, Castries.

The event brought together calypsonians, scholars, cultural practitioners, and fans for an evening of dialogue, reflection, and celebration of Saint Lucia’s rich calypso heritage. Highlights included a thought-provoking presentation by Amanie Mathurin on “Political Discourse in Saint Lucian Calypso,” the official launch of Lucian Kaiso 2025 Magazine by Kennedy “Boots” Samuel, and special recognitions for the Junior Calypso Monarch and other key contributors to the art form.

Attendees engaged in lively discussions, sharing insights on the role of calypso in shaping national discourse, while enjoying refreshments and networking with artists and cultural leaders.

The event reaffirmed the significance of calypso in shaping national discourse and provided an engaging space for cultural exchange and celebration.
