How to Play the Saint Lucian Kwéyòl Board Game
Goal
Be first to land exactly on home with EC$100 or more.
How to play
- Spin the wheel 5 times for your starting money. The richest player goes first.
- Roll the die and move toward home. Roll a 6 to play again.
- Squares can pay you, charge you, send you to the wheel, or ask a question.
- Land on police or jail and you go to jail. Roll a 6, use a Lawyer, or pay EC$80 to get out.
- Give food to charity to leap ahead.
- Land on home with the exact roll and EC$100 to win, or you start over.
Scoring
First to the finish with EC$100 or more wins. Your bank, right answers, and charity gifts raise your score too.
Timer
Kwéyòl question squares give you 20 seconds to answer. Run out of time and it counts as a wrong answer.
Levels
Difficulty sets how clever your computer opponents are, not the questions. You can also choose Pass and Play to share one device with up to 4 people.
Beginner
The computer players make simple, cautious choices.
Intermediate
The computer players play a stronger money game.
Advanced
The computer players play their best, spending and saving sharply.
Tips
- Earning squares pay on the spot: School gives EC$5, Family gives EC$10, and the $15 square gives EC$15.
- The wheel can pay cash or hand you a Lawyer card or food. You can hold up to 2 Lawyer cards and 2 food at a time.
- A Lawyer card also lets you walk past the police without going to jail.
- A correct Kwéyòl answer pays EC$10 and moves you forward.
- The ambulance sends you back to the hospital and charges an EC$25 fee.
- You must land on home with the exact number. If you would overshoot you stay put, so build up with smaller rolls.
- Watch the EC$100 finish rule near the end: if your bank is low, land on earning squares or answer questions before you cross the flag.
- On desktop, the magnifier on the right shows a zoom of the square each player just landed on.
