How to Play Kwéyòl Directions: a Saint Lucian Kwéyòl Map Game

Goal

Type directions in Saint Lucian Kwéyòl to walk your marker from Start to the place the game asks for.

How to play

1. The game asks how to get to one place on the map.
2. Open 📖 Kwéyòl Words to Know to see the direction words it understands.
3. Type your whole route as one sentence and submit it. Your marker walks it step by step.
4. Missed? You get up to 3 tries.

Scoring

Reaching the place earns 500 points, plus 50 for each direction that worked and up to 200 for speed. Extra tries cost 100 each, and walking off the map costs 50.

Timer

There's no countdown. The speed bonus starts at 200 and shrinks to 0 over the first 90 seconds of the round.

Levels

There's one map, and the level you pick doesn't change it. Every round is saved as a Beginner game.

Tips

• The places on the map are the School, the Shop, the Church, and Derek Walcott Square.
• The words the game understands are tou dwèt or kontiné (go straight), tounen asou lanmen dwèt (turn right), tounen asou lanmen gòch (turn left), and witounen (go back).
• Turning also moves you one step in the new direction.
• Other words, like alé (go), are fine to include. The game picks out the direction words wherever they are in your sentence.
• Tap any word in the Words to Know panel to see what it means.
