How to Play Kalkil an Kwéyòl: a Saint Lucian Kwéyòl Math Game
Kalkil an Kwéyòl means “Arithmetic”.
Goal
Solve simple adding and taking-away problems written in Saint Lucian Kwéyòl number words.
How to play
- Each problem is written only in Kwéyòl words: “èk” joins two numbers you add, “mwens” means minus, and “sa fè konbyen?” asks for the answer.
- Work out the answer.
- Tap the right Kwéyòl number from 4 choices before the 15-second timer runs out.
- Play 6 problems.
Scoring
A right answer is worth 100 points plus 4 for every second left. Wrong answers and running out of time get 0. Higher levels multiply your points.

15 seconds per problem. When it hits 0, the problem is marked wrong.

Not available. Kalkil an Kwéyòl starts at Intermediate.
Intermediate
Numbers from 1 to 10, with answers up to 20. Points × 1.3.
Advanced
Tens from 10 to 100, with answers up to 100. Points × 1.6.
Tips
- The problems use only Kwéyòl number words, so playing Konté and Mennen Nonm-lan first is a great warm-up.
- Answers are never 0.
