How to Play Ki Koulè?: a Saint Lucian Kwéyòl Color Game
Ki Koulè? means “Color Game”.
Goal
Learn the Saint Lucian Kwéyòl words for colors in three different modes.
How to play
- Pick a mode: Ki Koulè? (Quiz), Match the Colors, or 🖼️ What Color? (Pictures).
- Quiz: 8 questions, 15 seconds each. Pick the right answer from 4 choices.
- Match the Colors: tap a color, then tap its Kwéyòl word, until every pair is matched.
- What Color? (Pictures): 6 pictures, 20 seconds each. Select every color you see in the picture, then tap Submit.
Scoring
Quiz and Pictures: points for each right answer, plus a bonus for speed. Match: start at 1,000 and lose points for time and mistakes. Higher levels multiply your score.
Timer
Quiz: 15 seconds per question. Pictures: 20 seconds per picture. Match the Colors has no time limit, but the clock counts up and every second costs 8 points.
Levels
Beginner
6 colors. The quiz always shows a color and asks for its Kwéyòl word. Score × 1.
Intermediate
8 colors. The quiz sometimes shows a Kwéyòl word and asks you to pick the matching color. Score × 1.3.
Advanced
The same 8 colors. The quiz can also show an English color word and ask for the Kwéyòl word. Score × 1.6.
Tips
- Exact points: Quiz gives 100 per right answer plus 4 per second left. Pictures gives 120 per right picture plus 4 per second left. Match gives 1,000 minus 8 per second and 40 per mistake, never less than 100.
- In the Pictures mode there's no partial credit: you need every color in the picture, and no extra ones.
- In Match the Colors, one mistake costs as much as 5 seconds, so it's worth being sure.
